Nice to see this fact getting credible coverage.
I would be proud to be part of a nation that was known foremost for it's people's creativity and natural beauty, than for it's farming of animals for meat.
A vegitarian but won't people still want milk and cheese? And also if cows produce methane, then what about the amount of human beings producing methane? There are far more humans than cows.
I can't help but think this is human beings finding an excuse for their mess.
These studies generally take all parts of the meat farming process into account from cradle to grave, including the amount of resources taken up by crops required for meat (it's remarkably inefficient!), transportation of feed and meat, processing, packaging, waste management etc. To get a good overview I would recommend you read The Consumer's Guide to Effective Environmental Choices. Dairy farming is not nearly as resource intensive as meat farming.
